I now manage more tests of which five of them have 50+ or 90+ DNA Matches that go back to Joseph Hazzard and Elcy Lloyd or Denyes. Hope you can find me on Ancestry, I'll be looking for you and we can discuss.goneresearchinghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13425490218424236491noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8742265926307305259.post-23048423796693427372021-02-27T14:17:12.077-05:002021-02-27T14:17:12.077-05:00I am a direct descendent of Joseph and Elcey Hazza...I am a direct descendent of Joseph and Elcey Hazzard (my 2x great grandparents. I am looking for information about his parents and due to some errors I had Rowland Hazzard as his father..which you have disproved. The records are confusing at best. Rowland appears to be connected through the DNA records but in the list of children for himself and his wife Evangeline and James do not appear so I didn't feel that he could be the correct person. Any additional information or sources you could provide would be very much appreciated. Thanks in advance. I just saw your comment from a few days a...Hi James
I just saw your comment from a few days ago. It has been about a year and a half now since I wrote this post that started because of an intriguing single DNA match. We've done a lot more research since then and have had quite a few more matches. Between my three tests we now have DNA matches to descendants of Joseph Hazzard and Elsy Lloyd's children: Catharine, Richard, John D, Charles W, Benjamin F and George W. No Denyes DNA matches yet but there is a match to another Hazzard female (another possible sister?) that married a Keller.

Which of Joseph and Elsy's kids do you descend from?

I researched Joesph's brother James a bit. I've seen some muster rolls but I don't recall one that listed where he was born. There is a book on the Fencibles that the latest edition is supposed to have more info from the archives in London but I have no idea if further info is there for James since he died in service. I have known about the Hazzard book and stumbled upon a sort of description of some of the contents which told of sister Evangeline and John Denyes. We've researched them a little in the hopes someone left better clues to the parents. Unfortunately Joseph's in his petition are the best I have found so far.

Hopefully I get to Archives of Ontario soon (almost went this week) so I can investigate some records for possibilities.

Happy Canada Day and Happy Independence Day!

You didn't leave your email, but you should be able to find me.goneresearchinghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13425490218424236491noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8742265926307305259.post-83711758692584820682017-07-01T01:19:48.206-04:002017-07-01T01:19:48.206-04:00This comment has been removed by the author.goneresearchinghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13425490218424236491noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8742265926307305259.post-89425079488652921912017-06-23T09:18:51.596-04:002017-06-23T09:18:51.596-04:00My name is James Hazzard, ancestor of James and El...My name is James Hazzard, ancestor of James and Elcey (nee Lloyd) Hazzard of Hazzard's Corner, Madoc, Ontario. I have all of the above information and would like to add two additional items. On James Hazzard, who enlisted in the Glengarry Fencibles in Kingston, Ontario, his pay records show that he came from Lower Canada. There was also a third sibling, sister Evangeline b. 1789 New York State, d. 1853 . Buried in the (old) Garrison Cemetery, Plainfield, Ontario. She married John Denyes and had 13 children. I am currently researching Evangeline since I have no success in finding the names of the parents from either Joseph or James research. Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
